I am astonished by how jaded people have become.  When did cynical become synonymous with cool and sincere synonymous with weak?  In this new social environment, it seems people no longer believe in authenticity. 

When we're optimistic we are perceived as living in a Pollyanna perfect non-reality.  When we're pessimistic and insisting life's a bitch, we're given respect and perceived as being realistic.

Occasionally on here I'll see a longtime blogger refer to the "good old days" of Blackbook2. As is always the case, the "good old days" are before my time. Before yours too. That's just the way it is.

I have this fantasy of packing a few things into a rucksack, driving my car to the mountains, as far as I can go, and then just leaving it with the keys in the ignition and walking off into the forest with my rucksack and my dog.
